ACCORD BP Trial compared intensive (<120 mmHg, n=2362) Vs. standard (n=2372) antihypertensive therapy in people with type 2 diabetes. The authors conclude that targetting a blood pressure <120 did not reduce fatal or nonfatal cardiovascular complications in comparison with a target of <140.
The mean systolic blood pressure was 119.3 mm Hg in the intensive-therapy group and 133.5 mm Hg in the standard-therapy group.
