FDA advisors have voted 20-12 today to keep Rosiglitazone on the market. The FDA had convened a panel of experts to review the much debated risks around the drug.
FDA staffers had criticised the RECORD trial during the hearing. However, the panel felt there was insufficient evidence to withdraw the drug. The FDA is not bound to follow the panel's advice, but often does. A final decision is expected in a few months. Read more here (free full text at nejm.org)
